On Thursday we had a lively beer, pizza and pitching session at The Bioincubator. We had a number of companies stand up and introduce themselves as well as some interesting stories from others.
We had noodvamp who have pitched for us before and this time wanted to let us know they are launching a crowdfunding campaign! They will be raising funds for their product which is a spoon attachment and makes it easier to eat noodle soup. They’re launching the campaign with a thunderclap which sends a message from the social media of all their supporters. Support their campaign.
Next Derek Lane-Smith from Durridge USA stood up and told us about the big screen debut of their radon detectors. They apparently supplied the production team for the movie San Andreas a selection of their machines to add authenticity to the movie – which is about a massive earthquake in California. It comes out this month so if you go see it keep an eye out for Durridges radon detectors!
Jing Yun, a recent university of Sheffield graduate, then got up and told us about her project. She is working on creating summer and winter camp programmes for students between Sheffield and China. She is currently working on marketing her project and should have more info soon on her programmes.
Finally we had Barry James from the Crowdfund Centre, also a man who has pitched for us before but this time he was pitching Venture Funding Hubs. We support a local team in this event and guess what the focus of the next one is… Pitching! So if you wanna hone your pitch for our next Beer, Pizza and Pitching get down to Venture Funding Hubs meetup!
