Our colleagues over at University of Sheffield Enterprise run a pre-start programme for anyone with a connection to The University of Sheffield, that doesn't just mean students and graduates.
The USE Pre-Start Programme aims to help you remove some of the uncertainty of starting up and give you confidence that you either should be devoting a lot of time and energy on progressing your startup or rethinking your concept, pivoting, and/or completely going back to the drawing board. You can find out more about the programme and when it is open to applications on their website.
Company Case Study – EFT
Eco-Friendly Technologies started as engineering students in the USE@Kroto incubation space in our Kroto Innovation Centre and are now based at the Sheffield Bioincubator as an established business. One of the revolutionary products they have created is the Emdad v1, an adaptable glove designed to recognise the movements of the human hand for communication. Emdad v1 allows those suffering with speech impediments to easily interact with people around them and regain their ability to communicate. EFT are continuing to develop the biomechanics of Emdad to find new and novel uses for their innovative technology.
